The George Lindley Taber is a Southern Indian Hybrid evergreen azalea growing 6 to 10 ft. high with long-lasting, showy, single blooms of pink, purple, and white. It was developed in the southern United States in the mid-19th century and originated from Belgian Indian Hybrids and other species including the R. indicum and S. simsii.12 A large grouping of the George Lindley Taber Rhododendron Azaleas may be seen in the partially shaded landscape of tall pines at the southeastern corner of Bed #10, Greenleaves, in Mize Azalea Garden.
