The Oxbow Pond in Margil Park on La Nana Creek Trail

The Oxbow Pond in Margil Park, located at the beginning of La Nana Creek Trail just beyond Liberty Hall on El Camino Real, sits at the base of the bluff beneath historic Oak Grove Cemetery. From the elevated wooden footbridge above the pond you can view a diverse natural setting: exotic grasses to rock crawling vines; bamboo shoots to the red-leafed dogwoods of November, and the slender towering maple and sycamore trees above; and then you may ascend the path to the ancient cemetery where some of Texas' heroes are buried, their white and gray stones, names scoured in the course of time, contrasted to, and even turned aside by the gnarled roots of massive oaks and huge cedars that have grown here undisturbed for more than 200 years.
