The Maple St. Mural at Cushing, Texas in Historic Nacogdoches County


This Mural on the north wall of the Brick Building at 7th and Maple St. was painted by
the 9th thru 12th grade students of Cushing School under the direction of their teacher
Gina Corley Gresham.18 It is based on the
theme of the development of Cushing as a railroad town in the early 1900's. Cushing was
named after Edward Benjamin Cushing, an official of the Texas and New Orleans Railroad.1
